Annotation: In a confusing world poised on the brink of mayhem, Tyler Durden, a projectionist, waiter, and anarchic genius, comes up with an idea to create clubs in which young men can escape their humdrum existence and prove themselves in barehanded fights

Summary: The unnamed narrator of this novel hates his life. He is unhappy and comfortable with that idea. He spends his time going to support groups for afflictions he doesn't really have, and through the process meets Tyler Durden. A clever and likeable man with a penchant for causing mayhem. From the time he meets Tyler, the narrators life is forever changed.

The narrator has now joined and exclusive club for working professionals in which they are able to beat a random opponent into submission, just what he needs or so Tyler thinks.

This is just the first outlandish premise that Palahniuk introduces in his first novel. Expertly executed this novel will have readers turning page if just to find out what ridiculous adventures Tyler suggests next.

Combined with the extremely successful film of the same name, this risky novel will have people a bit unnerved and still excited to read on.
